The truth will set you free or hold others in captivity. Hear me out. We journey through life experiencing all of these beautiful lessons. I say beautiful because each experience is a lesson that leads to our expansion. That growth and expansion could be mental, emotional, physical, and/or spiritual. Nonetheless, growth is beautiful to experience, beautiful to witness, and beautiful to share as inspiration to others. On the contrary some of these experiences are less desirable than others so we may not be able to realize how they too, assist us in growing. Perspective is formed by our environment. The conditions in which we were raised. The belief system set into place by our parents, their parents and so forth. The moral and ethical principles that our family foundations were built upon. Then, we’re introduced into the school system. Where we’ll meet others, whose perspectives are different. Their environment, different. Their beliefs, different. Their moral and ethical principles, different. We either adapt, adopt or abandon other perspectives. Next, we’re introduced into the workforce. Where we’ll meet others, whose perspectives are different. Their environment, different. Their beliefs, different. Their moral and ethical principles, different. We either adapt, adopt or abandon other perspectives. Here comes society. Yikes. An expanded exposure to individuals whose perspectives are different. Their environment, different. Their beliefs, different. Their moral and ethical principles, different. We either adapt, adopt or abandon other perspectives. Now, we’re in the space where we want to be true to the environment in which we were born and raised. The beliefs bestowed upon us. The moral and ethical principles that keep our foundation of self in place. But! We have all these experiences where we’ve been exposed to other perspectives. Their environment, different. Their beliefs, different. Their moral and ethical principles, different. Some we’ve adapted to, from a place of understanding. It’s different from our own but we respect it. Some we’ve adopted as our because maybe it made more sense than what we were taught. Some we’ve abandoned completely by reason of it not fitting our overall perspective and foundation of self. Let’s go back to the beginning and talk about my truth, your truth, whose truth? We journey through life experiencing all of these beautiful lessons. Some of these experiences are shared with others whose perspectives are different. Their environment, different. Their beliefs, different. Their moral and ethical principles, different. When we share what we believe to be true about an experience, our experience, others involved may not share that same truth. Sometimes this truth that we share will make us feel alive, free, happy, and healed! It will assist us with growing and expanding. Because we share this experience with others, our light may shine on our truth in the matter but maybe it’ll expose the captivity of others involved because their perspective about this experience is well… different. So, whose truth is it to share really?
