Rooted in Racine is a 6-month series that focuses on local happenings, events, and activities in the Racine County area.

Rooted in Racine can serve as an accessible guide for locals to use and tourists to navigate Racine. This guide will aim to be published weekly or bi-weekly. Think of this as your one-stop shop for the inside scoop. My drive is to encourage people, especially those with disabilities, to be in the now and feel eager to know what is happening on the Third Coast.

The end of July is bustling with festivals, a farmers market, and other local events. I haven’t attend all of the events, but will give my personal opinion on accessibility.

Friday July 24, 2026

Local music in Downtown Racine

Kick off the weekend with some free local music in Downtown Racine. On Friday July 24, 2026, the Downtown Racine Corporation is hosting their Music on the Monument event at Monument Square. Music will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This weekend “Walking Birds” will take the stage.

Accessibility note: The grounds are accessible for wheelchair users, walkers, and other mobility devices. It is located on pavement. Those who are sound sensitive may struggle with noise volume. The event is outside and those with sensitivities to the weather may find the event to be challenging to attend. Monitor the weather before attending if you are one of those individuals.

Free fun at the library

Who doesn’t like to have fun for free? The Racine Public Library (RPL) is offering an event geared towards children and tweens. They are hosting a Tea-Rex Party from 11 a.m. to noon on July 24, 2026. The event will be held on the 1st floor in Youth Services. The event page is located here and there is also a full calendar of events happening at the RPL to explore online.

Accessibility note: The Racine Public Library is an accessible space for wheelchair users, walkers, and other mobility devices. It is a quite environment. The library is inclusive and works to meet the needs of people with varying disabilities.

Saturday July 25, 2026

Shopping local

Open every Saturday is the Racine Farmers Market at Festival Park, 5 Fifth Street in Downtown Racine. The event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

They offer various local products including fruits, vegetables, fresh flowers, baked goods, bread, and so much more.

Accessibility note: Festival Park’s grounds are primarily accessible for wheelchair users, walkers, and other mobility devices. There are portions of the park that are grassy, but where the market is takes place on pavement. It is an outdoor event so if your body is reactive to heat or cold, monitor the weather for your well-being.

Sunday July 26, 2026

On Sunday July 26, 2026 at North Beach’s Racine Beachside Oasis there will be a “Jammin Beach Party” from noon to 5 p.m. featuring multiple artists. It is located at 100 Kewaunee St.

The lineup starts at noon with Hey Muchacho!, followed by Little Couch Band at 1 p.m., then The Daisy Pushers at 2 p.m., Nick Ramsey + the Family at 3 p.m. and Reynaldo Jenkins + the Teardrops at 4 p.m. to wrap up the series.

Accessibility note: The Beachside Oasis is accessible. It is easier to walk on the oasis and be present on there than on the sand, however the City of Racine does state they have an ADA-accessible wheelchair and a beach mat that can be utilized to make going to the beach easier.

All weekend

All weekend is the Italian Fest at Roma Lodge in Mount Pleasant. The festival grounds are located at 7130 Spring St. The event brings three days of food/drinks, live entertainment including music, family activities, and vendor booths to shop.

There is an admission cost to enter the event. It is $5 to enter at the gate. Children who are 12 years old and under can get into the event for free.

Accessibility note: They offer parking near the festival entrance that is accessible. Some parking is available on grass where the surface is uneven. There are shuttles for parking that takes place off site to make the event more accessible. There is live entertainment so the noise level could be disturbing to some individuals who are sensitive to that. Additionally, the festival takes place inside and outside. If the heat bothers you, there is an indoor space to utilize, but not all offerings take place inside or outside.
