Hi folks,
It’s been a busy week in WriterLand! Set the dates of my first workshops as Writer-In-Residence about writing obituaries.
For those of you not familiar with me, I am a licensed funeral director with over 15 years experience at helping families navigate the plethora of emotional foxholes that present themselves when someone dies. I take great pleasure in helping people to remember their loved one with all the sorrow and joy that comes bubbling up.
In September, I will be offering a workshop on writing an obituary. This informal, small group format discussion will be free of charge and will be offered four separate times in September. A link is attached with all the pertinent info for these workshops.
I also am the author of “Matters of Life & Death” a monthly column that appears on the Faith page of the Kenosha News. Many of these columns also appear on my Facebook page Grief Blossoms. https://www.facebook.com/pattipotterfitchett/
I am also attaching a link to a wonderful event in Kenosha with Renee Engeln author of Beauty Sick: How the Cultural Obsession with Appearance Hurts Girls and Women
for an author discussion. The award-winning Northwestern University psychology professor reveals how the cultural obsession with women’s appearance is an epidemic that harms women’s ability to get ahead and to live happy, meaningful lives, in this powerful, eye-opening work in the vein of Naomi Wolf, Peggy Orenstein, and Sheryl Sandberg. This event will be held on Wednesday August 22 from 6:30 until 8:30 at Bradford Community Church Unitarian Universalist (5810-8th Ave. Kenosha)
Until next week! Blessed Be.
